EDUCATION
PROGRAMME
Our Newport nursery is registered with Estyn (Her Majesty’s
Inspectorate For Education and Training in Wales). This ensures
that the children in the pre-school group (over three years
old) are assisted in basic skills, which will sufficiently prepare
them in readiness for when they start school and the National
Curriculum. Chepstow and Trethomas are currently working towards the Wales Pre-school Playgroups Association for quality assurance (Newport is renewing it's status). Then both nurseries will be able to apply to be registered with Estyn also.
We primarily communicate with the children in English, but
as we live in Wales, the pre-school group are also introduced
to some basic Welsh. The children will learn some simple Welsh
words and phrases including colours, numbers, incidental words
such as “good morning”, “thank you”
or “well done”, and a few simple rhymes.
Our work is done through topics, and covers the six areas of
learning:
We are proud to tell you that when
last inspected by Estyn we were awarded "Faultless" status in all six areas of learning. A great achievement for
us!
